Kris Kline has become a very popular addition to the staff at Martinis Above Fourth-bringing a new twist to the award-winning restaurant and cabaret lounge in the heart of Hillcrest. He hails from a small town in Northern California and made his way to San Diego in order to enjoy the endless summers we all know and love here in SoCal. We caught up with this selfdescribed county boy, to get to know him a little better and a to get a sneak peek on the upcoming entertainment and events coming up in December at Martinis Above Fourth.

Kris, how long have you been a bartender at Martinis Above Fourth?

I started working at Martinis in September-I’m the new pup. I go to school full-time during the week but generally I’m at MA4 Thursday through Saturday nights and for certain events on Sundays.

What do you enjoy most about it?

The staff. I have known a few of the bartenders for a long time and they are very good friends. I am a social person by nature and enjoy the atmosphere-some of my favorite events at Martinis are Babette’s Bingo Brunch and our Cabaret.

Martinis Above Fourth features over 100 specialty martinis, do you have any favorites?

My favorite martini... hmm they are all so good! My two favorites would have to be the Dirty Executive (extra dirty) and the Pearl Necklace.

Tell us about some of your hobbies or favorite activity on your free time.

I am a huge car enthusiast so anything to do with cars or trucks. I just got out of the military last year, but I’m an active reservist now while in school. I also enjoy anything outside: camping, hiking and snowboarding... and the gym!

What is something people would be surprised to find out about you?

I am a big ol’ country boy at heart! I love country music, my boots, my cowboy hat and anything camouflage! I love the outdoors-campin,’ huntin’ and fishin.’

What is on your Christmas list this year?

Alcide Herveaux from True Blood, with nothing on but a big bow-WOOF! Or any gear from Nasty Pig.

Any goals or resolutions for 2013?

My goals for 2013 are definitely school-related! I’m trying to get nursing school knocked out!

Martinis Above Fourth is located at 3940 Fourth Avenue.
